Cumulative Haul #6

Hi, this haul post contains items I bought within the past month. I know it's a lot of stuff... My family doesn't celebrate Christmas, so Christmas came early for me! Enjoy!

11/24 Nordstrom: MAC 217, 239, Brush Cleanser, Prolong Wear Concealer in NW25, Technakohl Eyeliner in Graphblack, a powdered blush in Dollymix, Clarisonic Nordstrom Exclusive with extra refills = $373.5 + tax = $409

11/24 Nordstrom: Minnetonka and Vans

12/04 Marshall's: Adrienne Vittadini flats $39.99 --> $29.00 --> $20.00, Puma El Rey in Black Dark Shadow and Virtual Pink $30.00

12/07 Ross: Charles Albert Cowboy boots $15.00

11/27 Sally's Beauty: China Glaze Polishes in "For Audrey" & "Fairy Dust" = $5.99 each - 25% + tax (based off the original cost BEFORE discount) = $9.83

12/7 American Eagle Fair Isle Trapper Hat: $29.50 - 20% = $22.13 + tax = $24.23

12/13 Ulta: Benefit's The Fab Lane $49.00 --> $32.00 - 20% = $25.60 + tax = $28.03

12/13 I had two $15 off  $40 purchase coupons (one from a friend), I spent it on...

Sephora: Benefit's Dandelion $28.00 + 9.5% tax = $30.66 - $15.00 = $15.66
Sephora: Benefit's Sugarbomb $28.00 + 9.5% tax = $30.66 - $15.00 = $15.66

I bought my first Benefit's boxed powders in October when it came in the "Some Beauty To Love" set. I still haven't used it yet and went from owning none to four within a couple months. The only one I have used so far is Dandelion. I will do a more thorough swatch and review on it at a later date, but so far I'm loving it! I am not very fair skinned, but Dandelion still shows up on my cheeks. It is a very pale pink color that's meant to be brightening powder, not a blush.

Lastly, I received the Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Mascara from a friend. I have been loving this mascara because it makes my lashes really long! The mascara wand has a comb tip and fibers attach to the lashes to length it.

NOTD: Essie - Neo Whimsical & China Glaze - Fairy Dust

My first nail of the day post! I don't paint my nails very much, 'cause I'm paranoid that it's bad for my eyes because I have to touch it to remove my contacts.

Essie - Neo Whimsical (2 coats) from their Spring 2010 collection

With China Glaze - Fairy Dust (1 coat)

No Flash

I LOVE Fairy Dust! It's a clear polish with silver and rainbow micro-glitter. I tried to take a picture that would capture the most amount of sparkle.

Haul #5 - Target, Ulta, H&M

For my makeup haul, I got these:

Two pack for $9
Saw this two pack of Revlon ColorStay eyeliners and I HAD to have it! Why? I've been looking everywhere for something that won't run on my waterline and still haven't found it yet. I thought this was a great deal (2 for $9) so it was worth a shot to buy it try. I used this once so far and it held up well on my lids, but it still runs on my waterline (not as bad as other liners though.. I might need to dip it in gel liner to see if that works better). A two pack for $9, not bad, right? You CAN get a better deal when it's b1g1 free, but I rarely see those anymore.

2 for $6
I picked these up from Ulta and I got the accents because my eyelids have been having an allergic reaction to the glue recently. This was not an issue before, so I don't know why I've been getting it now. This applies to mascara too because I wasn't allergic to it and now I am. I've been trying different brands to see which won't cause an reaction, but not much luck. Anyways, I love falsies so I figure accents in the corner would be a teeny bit less irritating than a full strip.

Pumice stone: $1, Stila "It Girl" Trio: $10
I first saw this Stila It Girl palette in a pack from Costco last year (or maybe it was a few years ago... I don't remember). It came with this palette, a brush, and some other items for about $15 or $20. This year, they have a completely different set for sale, and the items aren't as appealing as the one with the It Girl palette. Anyways, I've always wanted to try out the color "Kitten" as well, and when I saw this at Ulta, I HAD to have it, especially since I thought I would never be able to find this again. I also saw this on sale at Sephora too but didn't want to shell out an additional $40 to get free shipping.

It comes with the colors: lame, chloe, and kitten.

Lastly, I exchanged some lipsticks I bought last time for these colors: Maybelline's ColorSensational in "Born with It" and NYX's Round Lipstick in "Doll".

Now, for the accessories part:

I got a headband, feather hair clip, bow ring, and multiple ring set from H&M. The headband really reminds me of something Blair Waldorf (from Gossip Girls) would wear. I like feather though I don't own anything with feathers on it. They make things look more feminine and delicate.

As for the rings, I have really tiny fingers and it's hard for me to find things that fit. I am also allergic to certain metals (metal on belt buckles, cheap necklace chains, glasses frames (I have to buy plastic or titanium), white gold, etc etc)  so I have to be careful with the type of jewelry I buy. My ring finger used to fit a size 5 ring but now I wear that ring on my middle finger. I got these in a XS/S and they fit pretty well. The bow one is cute and gives a lot of sparkle to any outfit, while the multi-pack comes with a lot of different designs. I think H&M's accessories are pretty affordable but they do add up when you buy a lot. I still can't believe I spend $20 just on accessories.

Wet N Wild Mega Last Lip Swatches

Out of all the Wet N Wild lipsticks I got last time (I went to three different Walgreens to get them), I kept six. Overall, I thought they were VERY pigmented for their price (I got them on sale for $1.75 each) and they are very moisturizing. With NYX's round lipsticks, each lipsticked varied in terms of how moisterizing they were. Wet n Wild lipsticks felt equally moisturizing. I can't tell you how long lasting they are because I haven't used it for a full day yet. For me, I don't really care how long lasting they are because I constantly eat or drink. I don't mind reapplying and I don't mind showing my bare lips when it rubs off.

The colors are: 901 Think Pink, 902 Bare it All, 903 Just Peachy, 905 Smokin' Hot Pink (NYX's Louisiana is next to this color), 906 Wine Room, and 907 Mauve Outta Here

Look! I found a dupe! Wet n Wild's Smokin' Hot Pink looks just like NYX's Louisiana.

I don't really like pale pink lipsticks on me. It's not a full face picture so you can't really tell, but... pale pink (like Strawberry Milk and Harmonica) doesn't look nice with my skin tone. So......

I applied a layer of gloss over it! I used NYX's Round Gloss in Real Nude. Anytime you have a shade of lipstick that doesn't work with your skin tone, just layer gloss.

Very nice nude color although it looks pretty ugly in the tube.

Also very nice. I will need a second Just Peachy and Bare It All, if I can find it.

I can rock reds better than I can rock pale pinks.

A little too dark for my taste.

First plum shade, although it's not super super plum. I don't really like plum shades on me because I'm much too yellow to be pale enough to wear plums. And I just don't like plum.

Sonia Kashuk Circle Around a Cause 6 Piece Set Review

First impression: Brushes are light because they're hollow. They look like metal, but I think only the ferrule is metal, while the handles are plastic that's sprayed with metallic paint.

I took each brush and ran it back and forth on the inside of my wrist to test for "prickly-ness". In my set, the softest brush is the blush brush, followed by the crease brush. Only the eye shadow brush shed one hair during this process, and it only slightly prickly if you use a lot of pressure. The angled liner seems a little wide, my first impression is that it won't be able to achieve thin lines (I use MAC's 266 with my gel liner), but I won't know until I try it. The most prickly brush is the smudge/small eyeshadow brush. It feels prickly on my wrist even without applying a lot of pressure. Finally, the last brush is the lash/brow groomer. The lash side is way more durable than the EcoTools one. The brow side does seem a little stiff though, so it might not be great for people with sensitive skin. Out of all the lash/brow groomers I have (Maybelline, EcoTools, and this Sonia Kashuk one), I love my Maybelline Expert Tools Brush n' Comb one the most. It's also very affordable (under $5), but might be hard to find.

The clutch is way nice! The tab clasp says "SK" on it, which could mean anything if you didn't know it came in a brush set. It's sturdy enough to use at night. Just wash it before you use it to store your brushes. You do NOT want to put cash in there, then take it out and put clean brushes in. The inside, white with pink zebra stripes, feels like wallpaper material, which is probably easier to clean than fabric.

Wash: Wow! I washed all of the brushes except the lash/brow and only ONE HAIR shed! I have to say, that's impressive because I have had MAC brushes shed more than one hair. And for a brush set this price, they didn't have the smell that comes with a lot of cheap synthetic brushes.

Use

*Pic 1 - Front View, Pic 2 - Side View
Powder brush: This shed A LOT of hairs all over my face, and some just fell out it ended up all over me. But it's sooo soft. It might be a little too fluffy (maybe I'm just too used to the density of my MAC kabuki?) if you want full coverage from your powder. I also used this brush to apply blush and bronzer. With blush, I had to apply it multiple times to get a light flush of cover. It's great if you want your blush to look natural, but you do have to build it up... Same with bronzer.

*Pic 1 - Front View, Pic 2 - Side View
Eyeshadow brush: Soft and not scratchy! I have a small crease so this brush was a little big. It's great for applying color, but when it's the size of half your lid, you can't really tell where it's going. I guess if I had to use it, I would use it for highlighting and applying an all-over lid color. I'm not a control freak, but I just HAVE to see what I'm doing which is why I love using a mini shader even though it's more time consuming.

From the picture, you can see a bristle that's longer than the rest. I will cut it shorter eventually... This also happened to one of the Essence of Beauty brushes, but I have not had this happen to MAC.

Round: LOVE this brush! It's so soft! It's great for blending and applying a light wash of color. I used this to apply my highlight color. There's also a bristle I need to trim on this brush.

*Hm.. I don't know where the flash went...
Angled Liner: I used this with MAC's Fluidline. The bristles flare out so it gives me a thicker line. I should have taken a side view picture b/c when the bristles flare out, those bristles will have liner on it and it will leave little dots of eyeliner. Again, because my crease is so small, thick eyeliner would take up my whole crease, which is why I like thin lines. It does make applying thick eyeliner faster though. This isn't a perfect eyeliner brush, but will get the job done.

Smudge: I knew this one was scratchy when I did my "test" on it, so I didn't want to try it on my lids. So, I used this brush to apply under-eye concealer. This brush felt harsh even doing that. I hate this brush, but would love it if it wasn't for the scratchiness.

I did not use the lash and brow grooming tool, you already have my first impression on it.

Overall, I think Sonia Kashuk brushes are a good value and a good starter set. The regular price for this set is $20 and you get 6 brushes/tools along with a clutch. This holiday's set (it's called "Dripping in Diamonds") comes with seven brushes and a clutch for $25. I just hope the powder brush doesn't shed anymore because it's already super fluffy. And, I hope no more long bristles pop out. I'm just not sure how LONG these brushes will last for (one month? one year? YEARS?). I'm not sure, but the quality probably varies from set to set (even from the same collection). You may or may not get any scratchy brushes or maybe none of yours will have long strands. Just keep in mind that the price you pay does equal it's quality.

*BTW, I did curl my lashes but did NOT use mascara. Third pic was 6-7 hours later

Face: Maybelline Expertwear Blush in 20 - pinch 'o pink, NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder in 720A - Sunny

Eyes: UD's Baked and Half Baked on inner corners, MAC's Black Tied, Sketch and UD's Lash Call on outer V and crease, MAC's Shroom for highlight
